GL ShipManager onboard AIDAluna

Latest edition to the AIDA Cruises’ fleet implements ship management software from GL Maritime Software

The GL ShipManager software system is again being used by AIDA Cruises on its latest newbuiliding, AIDAluna, to streamline purchasing processes, implement maintenance strategy, and facilitate information management. MEYER WERFT will deliver the 69,200-GT cruise ship, AIDAluna, equipped with GL ShipManager to the owner, AIDA Cruises, on 16 March 2009. GL ShipManager is now being used by AIDA Cruises on all six cruise ships of its fleet.

“The capability and ease of use of GL ShipManager, especially its powerful purchasing, order and delivery management, and maintenance planning functions, are traditional strenghts of our system that have long been prized by shipping companies of all sectors. We are pleased that AIDA Cruises is able to take advantage of these strenghts to efficiently manage its cruise operations,” said Heiko Hofmann, Managing Director of GL Maritime Software GmbH.

The MEYER WERFT shipyard is building three additional sister ships for AIDA Cruises by 2012, all of which will likewise be equipped with GL ShipManager. The sister ships of the new AIDA generation boast a length of 252 m, a width of 32.2 m and are equipped with 1,025 passenger cabins.
