GL ShipManager in use at the University of Applied Science, Bremerhaven

The University of Applied Science, Bremerhaven, Germany has incorporated GL ShipManager into its Ship Operation Engineering course of studies. GL Maritime Software GmbH, a GL Group company, provided the Procurement and Technical Management systems of its vessel/fleet management software to the University. With the start of the summer semester in April 2009, students gain hands-on experience using the software in connection with their studies.

Practice-oriented training is a key component of the course of studies at the University. In their future professions as ship’s technical officers or technical superintendents, the students will be required to use software systems such as GL ShipManager in their everyday work. “The vast majority of shipping companies today use ship/fleet management software to aid in the implementation of their maintenance strategy, management of their technical assets, and requisitioning and purchasing of spares. We’re pleased to enable the students in Bremerhaven to become familiar with the GL ShipManager system and to gain such necessary IT competence for their future careers,” comments Heiko Hofmann, Managing Director of MsLS.
