AIDAblu already equipped with GL ShipManager

AIDA Cruises’ latest newbuilding implements ship management system from GL Maritime Software

Installation of the GL ShipManager software system onboard AIDAblu – the newest addition to the AIDA Cruises fleet – was recently completed, still during the newbuilding phase of the ship at MEYER WERFT shipyard. Integrating the installation of the vessel system into the newbuilding phase allows for optimal use of the system as soon as the vessel is docked out and begins service. All vessel-specific data such as equipment, machinery and spare parts, as well as maintenance job details were captured and implemented in the database before installation. The ship will have time to initialise the system and begin using GL ShipManager in active operations even before leaving the yard.

AIDA Cruises uses GL ShipManager in its office and on its entire current fleet of six cruise ships to streamline purchasing processes, implement maintenance strategy, and facilitate information management. The 69,200-GT cruise ship, AIDAblu, will be christened on Feb. 09, 2010 in Hamburg.

The MEYER WERFT shipyard is building additional sister ships for AIDA Cruises by 2012, all of which will likewise be equipped with GL ShipManager. The sister ships of the new AIDA generation boast a length of 252 m, a width of 32.2 m and are equipped with 1,025 passenger cabins.
