Eimskip signs for optimized fleet management solution

GL Maritime Software has recently signed an agreement with Eimskip, Iceland’s oldest shipping company, for the implementation of its GL ShipManager and GL FleetAnalyzer fleet management platform.

Founded in Reykjavik in 1914, Eimskip has since expanded into a full logistics services provider, offering total transport solutions around the world. Eimskip has offices in 16 countries worldwide as well as agents in other strategic locations.

Eimskip’s goal is to provide its customers with comprehensive transport services based on a dependable and efficient transport system – forming an unbreakable transport chain from the shipper to the receiver.

In order to better support the ship management activities for it expanding fleet, Eimskip was interested in a professional, future-oriented fleet management solution. After carefully vetting 6 maritime software providers, Eimskip chose the GL ShipManager and GL FleetAnalyzer systems from GL Maritime Software.

The solution will focus on integrating processes such as maintenance management, purchasing and inventory control, and safety management, and will include an interface with the SAP accounting system already in place at Eimskip. The GL FleetAnalyzer system will be used to provide highly powerful and extremely flexible reporting. This will allow Eimskip to easily monitor budget performance, maintenance performance, safety performance, and other important metrics on a fleet-wide level with the ability to drill down and analyze on the fly.

The project will commence in Q3 2011 with initial project milestones achieved by the end of the year.
