Bonita Banana / Trireme Ship Management (Belgium), the world’s fourth largest banana exporter, has recently joined the GL ShipManager family. The company operates its own fleet of eight refrigerated vessels which are used to supply the European market.
To ensure that the vessels are maintained and operated to the highest standards, the company has recently signed the contract for the GL ShipManager. “We were looking for a user-friendly, integrated software solution that meets our company’s needs. After evaluating the software of different companies carefully, we were convinced by the functionality of the GL ShipManager suite” comments Connie Spies, ICT Manager Europe, the company’s decision.
The implementation of the main modules Technical Management, Procurement, Ship and Voyage Management and Incident Management closely integrates the ship and fleet management key processes.
The GL ShipManager reduces and structures the workload onshore and onboard significantly and thus helps to focus on the core-business - the commitment to operate the supply chain through fully owned entities or in partnership with independent suppliers in order to deliver high quality bananas.
“Bonita Banana will benefit from the suite’s new features and further module improvements of the software release 2.1, which will be launched in August 2010”, says Torsten Buessow, head of GL Maritime Solutions, and is quick to add “the decision to implement the GL ShipManager software onboard will improve the fleet performance by providing increased transparency of ship operations, maintenance and procurement activities”.
GL Maritime Software welcomes Bonita Banana in the family of the continuously growing GL ShipManager Community. The implementation of the software onboard and onshore is expected to be finished by the end of 2010.
